While the cylinder block and head are the core of the engine, managing the exhaust gas is just as important. Perkins diesel engines and the exhaust and after-treatment systems are integrated systems, designed and built specifically for optimum fuel economy, performance and to meet emissions standards. Often including complex after-treatment systems such as Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF), Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems to remove particulate matter and soot, unburnt hydrocarbons and nitrous oxides.
